WHAT TO EXPECT

At Your Free Hearing Consultation

Walk Through Your Hearing Consultation

STEP 1: Arriving at Our Office

When you arrive at our office for your scheduled appointment, you will be greeted by our warm and friendly front desk team who will take your key contact and insurance information. They will review your insurance carefully to determine if there is any hearing benefit on your plan. We accept all insurances.

At your appointment time, your board certified specialist will invite you back to the patient sound-proof room to begin your consultation.
STEP 2: Listening to Your Story
In the consult room, we will start by discussing your main concerns for your visit and some background information related to your hearing difficulties. We want to understand your story about your specific hearing challenges and how it’s affecting your life.

STEP 3: Testing Your Hearing
Following your story, we will start your hearing examination. Your hearing exam results are plotted on a graph called an audiogram. Before we start your exam, we will show you this graph and explain how we interpret hearing loss results. Your hearing examination will be carried out in a soundproof booth to shield external noise. The exam will start once we take you into our testing booth.
  1. Once you are seated, we will check your ears for wax using a state-of-the-art video otoscope.
  2. Next, we will place a pair of headphones over each ear and a give you a button to press.
  3. In the first part of the exam, we will present beeping sounds to which you respond. Some beeps will be louder and some beeps will be softer. You will press the button anytime you hear a sound.
  4. In the last part of the exam, we will present words and ask you to repeat them back. This allows us to measure your word recognition ability.
  5. At the conclusion of the exam, we join you back in the consult room to discuss your results.
STEP 4: Reviewing Your Results

Reviewing the audiogram together, we will walk you through your hearing test results. Typically, the results from your hearing test will confirm your story about your hearing challenges we initially discussed. We will fully explain your results, how it compares to someone with relatively normal hearing, and answer any questions you may have.

STEP 5: Match You with Recommendations

Your solution is unique.  Above all, lifestyle is the most important factor to consider when choosing your hearing solution. There is not a one-size fits all solution.

When investing in a hearing solution, you should never feel pressured to buy or make an immediate decision.  Pricing varies due to the technology level you choose based on your lifestyle and insurance benefit.  At AccuHear, we are here to help guide you through the decision process as a trusted advisor, not a pushy salesperson.

STEP 6: Purchasing Your Hearing Aids

Once you’ve decided to purchase your hearing aids, you will sign a purchase agreement and provide payment to place the order. We will apply your insurance benefits to optimize your final cost. We accept most forms of payment – cash, check or credit and no-interest financing to those who qualify.

We will setup a future appointment usually, within week, for you to come in to receive your new hearing aids. During this fitting and delivery appointment, we orient you to your hearing aids, ensure they fit and are working properly. We will walk you through how to insert and maintain them and answer any questions you may have.

STEP 7: Wrapping Up Your First Appointment

Before leaving our office, you will receive a copy of your purchase agreement that outlines the make, model, serial numbers, price, trial period, and your warranty information on your hearing aids. We want you to feel at ease and comfortable with your experience at AccuHear. This first appointment can take up to an hour and we never want you to feel rushed or hurried. It’s important to us that you leave with all of your questions answered and know that you can call us anytime should you have any more.

Step 8: The Fitting Appointment

At your future fitting appointment, we will program your new hearing aids and teach you how to use them.  Paul and Chris are board certified programmers who will expertly dial in the optimal sound level for your hearing aid. They will go over the best care and maintenance practices to ensure your hearing aid will work for years to come.

When you are comfortable, confident, and ready to experience the real world with your renewed hearing, we conclude the appointment and schedule at least weekly appointments for the next 30 days.

STEP 9: Future Follow-Up Appointments

Future follow-up appointments address any concerns you experienced in real-world environments and to make adjustments for sound quality or comfort.  We recommend you stop by for your semi-annual routine check to deep clean the hearing instruments to keep them in tiptop shape. We also recommend an annual hearing test to monitor your hearing loss so we may stay on top of any changes and make appropriate adjustments to your hearing instruments.

Outside of these routine visits, we welcome you to walk-in or call with any issues or questions you may have regarding your hearing or your hearing instruments and we will happily serve you.

We wish to have a long-term relationship with you.  Through out the entire lifetime as our patient, you will receive unlimited office visits at no cost to you.

That’s how we’ve been doing it successfully for over 25 years.
